It had likely been the lack of Mekhet that had woken him up; usually, he'd be able to half-sleep through her chewing but today, he had been suspiciously left alone. Of course, Kaliban had stirred if only because his routine had been broken but the absence of Menkhet entirely had turned his eyes from dreary, half-asleep to wide and hunting. His other siblings were there but not Menkhet. How curious! Perhaps she had made herself the leader of sorts by virtue of her brazen nature alone - however she had managed it, or perhaps because Kaliban was a little jealous of her having gotten away first, he felt compelled to follow in her footsteps.
He slipped around his other siblings and skimmed passed his mother as he crept from the den. It was only several moments before he seemed to hold himself more confidently, chest puffed ever so slightly as he began to swagger forward with a casual sway to his step. Though he followed his sister's tracks, he didn't do so faithfully but rather, he deviated, exploring each new rock or mole hill along the way; he practically hadn't noticed the ground beginning to shift from grass to rock and then finally sand. Only when his paws sank into the wet sand did he stop and blink, lifting a paw up to inspect the golden granules that clung to his toes. How strange to want to go there first thing in the morning!
With a shrug, he shook his paw off before he began to lope towards his sister once more. He moved to her side and bumped his shoulder into hers before he flopped down to be seated next to her. He gave a shrill yawn before he proceeded to drop down even further, his paws stretching out in front of him as he flexed them in the sand. Why had she come out all this way to just stare at the water? He looked up at her, wondering if he'd find some kind of hint on her face.
