Many wolves looking for relaxation come to Blossom Field. A gentle breeze vibrating the blossoming flowers is quite a sight to see and it is quite a favourite for wolves to come with their mates.

A recent fire has ruined the scenery, half the field covered with soot and marked with scars of the flames. The other half is untouched, however.

Warriors are not born and they are not made,
Warriors create themselves

It had taken him weeks to recover from the vampire fight. For half of that, Aindreas had been unconscious, his body desperately trying to regain all of the energy that had been put out during the battle. For that was the payment due whenever Tempests, especially Oferweder took full advantage of their abilities - they would pay for it time and a half later. Sure, their stamina would be prolonged by a long time in order to survive the rage of battle. And yes, they were stronger, they could hit harder than any normal wolf. And absolutely were they quicker, making it easier for them to evade the onslaught of attacks… But in life nothing was free, especially not this. Aindreas could never know it, but that had been why there were so many Tempests back in the Arcus Irae‘s homeland - there were innumerable ones so that they could fight back even when the first set went into their coma phase. There would be another set of wolves to watch over them to protect both protect the fallen warriors and the rainbows themselves. A lot of good it did them though, when one of them on the trade them all…

He was lucky though, that he had made it back to his own pack before falling into his slumber. Just his presence in the land, the presence of any tempest really, helped the land itself be protected against vampires, and so luckily, he was not attacked at all. Still, when he awoke, Aindreas was sore, stiff, and ravenously hungry. Throughout the battle, his body had released an unnatural amount of adrenaline, and had used up all of his reserves. While in his hibernated state, the king’s body had not needed much energy to survive and recuperate… Mainly what he needed at that point was rest. But now? It was like he had starved for three months… And though he had his energy again, he knew exactly what he was going to do first.

Hunt.

He rose to his paws, and immediately winced. It seemed that his body was not quite finished healing - for that was not one of their superpowers. They didn’t heal quickly… They healed like any other normal wolf - with time. And the long gash along his rib cage, while scabbed over, was not so amenable to movement. So the king move gingerly, at a slow pace… Stretching out his muscles as tenderly as he could. Each step, he relived the battle over and over again, wondering if there was anything he could have done to prevent the injuries that he had incurred, glad one million times over that none of his people had been injured severely enough to cause death. Although… Unbeknownst to him, his son Drizzt was dead, nearly as a direct result of the battle. When, eventually, Aindreas would finally find that out, it would break his heart, steal from him all desire to live. But until then, Aindreas was really happy that he had been able to keep his pack safe, and that the vampire pack had been decimated by the battle. The filthy blood suckers would not likely be able to put up another fight for a long while. Regretfully, the members of Dierne Hrof had been unable to kill them… But weakening them had been good enough, at least for now.

Time slipped away from him again, and before he knew it, Aindreas was far outside of his pack. Perhaps that was for the best - he did not want to go hunting much around in Dierne Hrof, not with the coming of winter. If they were smart, they would want to save all the prey they could within their pack for the upcoming time of famine. So instead, he found himself walking through tall grasses that swept along his legs, pulling at him, slowing him down… But they also told of his position and would prevent him from sneaking up on any prey that he may come upon. Aindreas peered above the grasses, and waited, realizing that if they delayed his position, they may also reveal that of the prey. And there it was - he saw a sway of the grass, a small soul, likely a rabbit. He let go of his hold on his magical vision, not needing it any longer. He feared that if he used too much of the Tempest powers before feeding, he might be knocked into yet another coma - and out here, he would not be protected at all.

The tall, muscular brute crept through the grass, using his nares to track down his prey, and altered the exact course he was on based on his hearing as he listened to the rabbit thumping on the ground, signaling to its friends who were likely hiding safe within their borrow. He was not as fast as he could be, nor silent as he could be were he at full strength. And compared to how he had been living these past few months, ever since the magic within him had awoken, he felt dumb, deaf, and slow. It was like a bad hangover, only one that lasted weeks instead of a single morning. But finally, he made it to his prey, as any normal wolf could, and he leapt upon it, catching it in his claws, his daggers digging into it and severely maiming it… But just as he landed, another being landed upon him… One that was definitely not a rabbit, but rather, a wolf. Aindreas snarled and let go of the rabbit, knowing that it could not go anywhere, despite its squeals, and he growled and rolled over so that whatever had landed on top of him was nos beneath him. He bared his teeth and snarled, threatening to bite… Until he realized that it was Mai beneath him. Immediately, his heart skipped a beat, his bond to her immediately relaxing him, taking over his crazed thoughts. He smiled, and stayed atop of her a second too long before he realized that he was still pinning her, and then he rolled off of her.

Sorry about that… I did not realize that was you. Did I steal your meal?

Through trial and error, pain and suffering,
And their ability to conquer their own faults
