What... Emerie looked between Ikuseghan and Losa, utterly lost. There was something that they knew and she did not, she was sure. It was in the way Losa acted toward Iku, how Iku spoke and tried out every new word, and the pup's strange, frustrated whine. There had to be something she was missing... yet she couldn't figure it out. Frustrated, Emerie almost wanted to give a whine of her own. She watched again, more closely this time, as Losa spoke and Iku - oh. She's... deaf.

So that was what it was. Ikuseghan was deaf and could not hear. Even so... Emerie was in awe of the girl, for though she was unable to hear, she could speak and understand speech. That must have taken so much effort. Pride welled up within Emerie. I am proud of a pup who is of no relation to me. She wondered at that briefly, before deciding that it was of no importance. Whether Iku was her daughter or someone else's, what the girl had accomplished was unquestionably praiseworthy. Now that she knew what was going on, every fiber of Emerie's being wanted to praise and congratulate Ikuseghan - but she had no idea if such praise would make the girl happy or offended. In the end, she decided that being not confident in her own social judgement, she would simply follow Losa's example.

Now, when Losa spoke - how did Iku know what the rainbow was saying? Emerie tried her best to remember how Losa had acted - she'd turned toward Iku, hadn't she? And Iku had been frustrated when Losa was not facing her. So she had to make sure she was facing both Losa and Iku when she spoke. Given that Losa had adjusted her position with that goal in mind already, this was rather simple. She stood still for the next few moments, just focusing on Losa's words. The more she could find out about this world, the better.

"Eh-Mer-ee." she said to Ikuseghan, making sure the girl could see the movements of her lips, but stayed silent for the other questions. She did not know who they were looking for either. That was a question for Losa to answer. She had another thing to address, though: "I will go with you," Emerie decided. She did not have anything else to do nor anywhere else to go, after all. Losa and Ikuseghan were the first wolves she'd met in this land, and they were nice wolves. Who knew if other wolves she might encounter would be as nice? Better to stick with wolves she knew for now.
