THE FOUNDERS OF THE LF WEB SITE THE LATE CAPT. JOE EASTWOOD BEM AND COLIN BOUTTY WERE BOTH FIERCELY ENTRENCHED IN THEIR INTENT AND ADAMANT IN THEIR BELIEF THAT THE LF WEB SITE SHOULD REMAIN AN INDEPENDENT ENTITY AND FREE FROM OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. IN FURTHERANCE OF THAT END ALL SUGGESTIONS THAT THE WEB SITE BE ALLIED TO OR INDEED INTEGRATED INTO THE FUSILIER ASSOCIATION OR ANY OTHER GROUPING WERE FIRMLY REJECTED. THE ETHOS OF INDEPENDENCE REMAINS THE SAME. :SMILIES (Emoticons)

Lifted to top of the page in case overlooked as my reply is way down on the strings.

Good morning Dennis
I too have John Hallam's Book plus a large research base. The problem we are having is that his relatives wish to put together a This Is Your Life presentation for his 100th birthday celebration on 15th November. Although we know that he was 1st Bn the family have been unable to determine exactly when and where he served other than being in India and Germany. The Web Site contains a gold mine of information about the 1st Bn, sufficient to glean the information for a presentation. Sadly because his actual place / date of service is unknown it's a tad difficult to know which information is relevant. He is actually still in hospital but due to be released shortly. I have suggested that family members discreetly find out his service dates. His Army Service Record would be obtainable from the Army Records Office in Glasgow but that can take up to three months. The family are trying to do everything in secret so don't want to ask him directly and spoil the surprise.
In respect of donations please make out a cheque payable to "The Lancashire Fusiliers Web Site" and send to my address 63 Ostrich Lane Prestwich M25 1GN. Your donation when banked will appear on the Finances Page.
Regards
Geoff
