At one time Era would have been upset about being forgotten. After all, she was quite memorable. Wasn’t she? But, Era was elated at the idea that she had been forgotten. If it had been long enough that he forgot about her, then it might have been long enough for someone to forget how Grayson used to be. It meant it was a brand new slate for Grayson. Grayson needed that; he needed friends and familiar faces. She knew all too well, didn’t she?

“Yes, it has been a long time.” A slight smile tugged at her lips fondly. But she didn’t offer anything else. Grayson would be here soon, she knew he would.

He grabbed her paw and began to tend to it. Wincing slightly she took in a big breath and refrained from pulling her foot away. She hoped it wasn’t too bad and it would heal quickly. She needed to be there for her fairy, an injured paw would be a big inconvenience.

The silence stayed until his work was complete. He placed her paw down and she graciously thanked him. It wasn’t every day someone showed her that amount of attention.

Her ears perked up when the words parted from his mouth. Ok, now this was interesting.

“Favours, promises, information,” she whispered while she rolled her eyes playfully, “you fairies always want something.” She stood up, yawning and stretching before she shook out her fur. She stood there for a minute, staring at him, letting the time tick away as best it could. “For your help, my lips are sealed.”

Her eyes drifted out into the darkness behind him, A low glowing orb of light flickered in and out of the trees, it went unnoticed by her company. Right on time, she thought.

“As for the second.” She cleared her through, “I’m afraid I won’t be telling you.”

She let the moment slip, the soft crunch of leaves from footfalls could now be heard. Era yipped in excitement, “Because he’s here!”

Grayson held the lantern out letting the light flood the small clearing. Era was standing there, wagging her tail like usual, Grayson sighed in frustration. “’Bout time, geez Era it took me forever to find you. What in…”

He paused, aware that Era wasn’t even looking at him, but she was looking at something. He lifted the lantern and moved forward, the light bending around the tree to reveal a young man sitting against the base of a tree.

Grayson stared down at him, wide eyed with alarm, “I know you.”
