Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

Zelda would dance, keep distance and speak half truths if she needed too, but here in this situation as she did with most, she didn’t feel the need. Blackthorne, yes, she even would say she make sure her phrasing was in a way that he couldn’t tie her down too terribly much. Otherwise, yes, she didn’t want to play games with others, or mislead or let them misinterpret what she was saying or thinking. She would put it out there plainly with all her feelings attached. She didn’t know that her being open about her feelings and thoughts was such a foreign concept to the brute before her.

He replied saying he thought every wolf had a part of them that could be used against them. It was true, if it wasn’t imprints, it was family, if not them then friends. Or simply just a secret they never wanted exposed, if they had one. Zelda did her best to cover up her imprinting with Lazarus both to keep him safe, and herself. Though the wolfess never once thought that Eden couldn’t be exploited, just perhaps that he might not Blackthorne in enough to not be exploited easily. Zelda knew he cared about his family. After all, he protected his daughter for years when she had accidentally poisoned Amoxtli, even though he knew, and certainly was upset when he found out when Moteuh had been so heartlessly killed by Aranck. So Zelda knew that he might act out if his family were in harm's way, but he also did a fairly good job of protecting them too it seemed.

Zelda’s ears flicked when he mentioned his mother’s attacker. Zelda had treated her mother’s wounds once she returned home, she got some of what had happened, though neither wolfess really wanted to think about what the two males had done to the wolfess who hurt her. If anything, Zeltzin never heard about it again to know. She remained silent as Elohim spoke, but only once he was done did she finally reply.

”Your father cares deeply for his family and those he’s attached too. I never really meant he couldn’t be exploited, more that I feel that he takes good care of those around him. He wouldn’t let someone like Blackthorne in close enough to do it. Maybe I was wrong. He’s been an alpha for a long time. He’s good at keeping those around him as safe. Though, we can’t always keep everyone safe… no matter how hard we try.” Zelda said frowning, her tan ears tipping back slightly. ”Moteuh. Mother. I couldn’t keep them safe either. I suppose your father did what he felt he needed to to keep mother safe, if what you say is true. I thank him for that if that is how he really felt.” Of course Zelda mourned the loss of a life, she didn’t know why what had happened happened, or the connection the males had with the woman naturally, now she would likely never know. It didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things she didn’t think.

Zelda had been honest though when she said those who did not want power did best with it. She saw the flicker of a smirk on Elohim’s maw before he nodded, she wondered if he had ever thought something like that himself. ”I never intended to take my Uncle’s position, no. I was three when I took the mantle of Guardian of Taviora, but I had someone close to me who helped lead with me. He knew he was meant to lead and do great things, but then he left. I was a healer, I still am, but that only makes me know where to target to get the tendons to part, the muscles that move your legs and the arteries to hit drain you all the quicker. All without killing someone.” She smiled warmly, she was rather proud of her healing abilities and the perhaps secondary nature of things she gained with it in time. She didn’t rise, but she made her point very clear. Any who wanted to disturb the forest would be met with all the wrath of its Guardian Deity. Every time she thought about having to hurt someone she hated it, but if it was for Taviora, to protect it, she would die trying to make sure those here continued to live in peace. It was the sacrifice her Grandfather had made, and her uncle, and someday she was sure someone would come along for her.

Though Elohim through her for a bit of a loop when he said he would find the child of Blackthorne. Zelda went through an array of thought. Confusion. Disbelief. Skepticism. He grinned, the markings along his cheeks lifting as he did, then as he continued she really wasn’t sure what to say. ”I’m sure your aunt wouldn’t, but I think Blackthorne would. He’s doesn’t like something out of his control for long, if ever, especially I would assume something potentially precious to him like a child. I would be impressed if you did do this feat at all.” Could she make something of this though? ”That would endanger you though potentially, though…” She looked the brute up and down, slightly knowing he was capable, but no… she didn’t want him to get hurt over her desire to fix something before it got too broken.

”No, you would putting yourself and harm’s way, and while willing, I don’t want to get you involved in my own personal grievances with Blackthorne. Bad as he is, I know it’s the world that made him this way. I’m certain under a guiding paw his child could be molded in another. It’s what he preaches too after all, what he was wanting to do to Aspis…” It did seem only right though in a way. Though she wasn’t sure what happened to Aspis, Blackthorne made it clear he wanted to break him, mold him away from what his parents were. ”Blood doesn’t make you who you are though, Elohim. Sure it can influence you to a degree, but it’s not all that makes you what you are.” She had no examples that would mean anything to him, but Zeru came to mind… A child of Aranck yet all he wanted to do was love and take care of other children. Arace, was also set in her ways yet she lived a much more peaceful life with her children now that she was given the chance too. Perhaps if he prodded she would try yet, maybe he knew some wolves like that too?

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
