Just as a matter of interest, I checked and found the below-linked site, which ranks the countries of the world in descending order of national debt as a percentage of GDP.
I was sort of surprised to see Japan having such a high Debt to GPD ratio. The below site delves into the matter. (https://www.quora.com/Why-does-Japan-have-so-high-debt-GDP-ratio-Will-it-default-like-Greece).
(I was also surprised to see Russia ranked so low--fifth from the bottom).
