A hurling ball (or sliothar to give it its proper Gaelic name) is made from cork with a (white with black stitching) leather exterior. It hurts like buggery if you try headering it.
Usually a hurling ball with hair on it indicates that one of your opponents - or, in extreme cases, the referee - has just been decapitated. This is normally considered to be very much contrary to the spirit of the game.... Replies:
