For a sweeping condemnation of the LCS debacle, see cdrsalamander.blogspot.com, and search for the many articles Cdr Salamander has written on the subject over the last decade. The entirety of the two classes is/are useless. Their original motivation was the unipolar world in which the US had only to worry about "small wars" of terrorism, etc., like those easy ones, Afghanistan and Iraq. The modular weapons loads have not been developed, the range of the LCS won't let it cross the Atlantic unrefueled, the aluminum structure is fire prone in combat, and the crew is too small to maintain it. The only advantage they have is speed, a dubious value in the world of anti-ship missiles. Replies:
