Now you get your tournaments back possibly.
That is definitely an important possibility.
All pro sports around the world are getting a free boost in fan interest by providing symbolic warfare, or "us vs them". People identify with their local team.
Even within the small jai-alai world you could see that inter-fronton tournaments such as the NAJF had that effect.
Imagine that a football team, eg Patriots, switched over to a jai-alai mode. No more games against other NFL teams, instead they would randomly assemble into teams made up of only their own roster and play against themselves 5 days a week, maybe 7 perfs, each with a dozen short-format games with different 'team' lineups.
I wonder how that would affect their fan base? Merchandise sales?
My point is that fan-wise, our jai-alai has always been presented in an inherently tough format. If somehow a tournament structure could be created, we might see some big growth in interest. Which could lead to TV coverage and ad revenue, etc.
