THE FOUNDERS OF THE LF WEB SITE THE LATE CAPT. JOE EASTWOOD BEM AND COLIN BOUTTY WERE BOTH FIERCELY ENTRENCHED IN THEIR INTENT AND ADAMANT IN THEIR BELIEF THAT THE LF WEB SITE SHOULD REMAIN AN INDEPENDENT ENTITY AND FREE FROM OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. IN FURTHERANCE OF THAT END ALL SUGGESTIONS THAT THE WEB SITE BE ALLIED TO OR INDEED INTEGRATED INTO THE FUSILIER ASSOCIATION OR ANY OTHER GROUPING WERE FIRMLY REJECTED. THE ETHOS OF INDEPENDENCE REMAINS THE SAME. :SMILIES (Emoticons)

Fusilier Brides’ Wedding Dresses from the Past

Assistance Required from the Regimental Family

The Fusilier Museum (Bury) will be holding an exhibition of weddingdresses worn by Fusilier brides from 1915 to 2015 opening in February 2019.
The oldest dress to feature in the display will be the wedding dress of Mrs Kathleen Sutcliffe who married Captain Jack Sutcliffe, an Officer of the 2/6th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers in 1915 before he went to France to fight in World War 1.

It is hoped that the display will feature a dress from each decade, showcasing the changing styles and tastes over the century. The museum is now trying to locate a wedding dress from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 2010s. If you have a wedding dress that you would be willing to loan the museum, then please contact: sarah.stevenson@fusiliermuseum.com or ring Sarah on 0161 763 8962.
