At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.
Some are born great Some achieve greatness __________________________________________ ‘Careful, my love. You’ll have me swooning at your feet if you keep talking like that’ Seraphina laughed, and Vladimir puffed out his chest and put on airs, getting stiff in his strutting stride and curling his tail over his back. “Ah, well, I am so strong and handsome. Even without speaking all she-wolves lay themselves at my paws, and then once my maw opens and my sililloquies fall with easy complexity, none stand a change. Ha haha ha ha!” Vladimir deflated and his false cocky guffaws turned into a gentle chuckle as he nuzzled her again. “You know that for me there is no other… every other female may as well be my sister. And if you were ever to swoon and land at my paws, I would already be flat on the ground, my body ready to break your fall.” Perhaps another would find him too suave and think his words not only untruthful but cheesy. But the reality was that the Dierne Hrof prince meant every single word with all of his heart and his soul. Once he had pulled away from her, he had begun to pluck the gull, and then ate in silence, enjoying the meal that they were sharing together despite the fact that it was hardly more than a snack. But he had not missed the way her pools had brightened and shined when he had mentioned the crabs – despite his hatred for seafood, fish, and anything of the sort, she for some unknown reason loved it, and he would do anything to make her happy. And so, he had entered the frigid water to hunt while Seraphina spoke of their two oldest daughters. ‘They’re strong girls - I trust them to make good decisions and take care of themselves. And we aren’t exactly the poster for practicing what you preach… Besides, if they do start a family at least it will be with their soulmates. I’m quite excited for them to find them. Hopefully they’ll find someone as loving to them as you are to me.’ Vladimir shrugged, too focused on the crab he was about to snatch to respond quite yet… but then he had caught it, and it had in turn caught his nose with its pinscers. The hessian had disposed of his prey’s life quickly before dropping it at his mate’s paws before pausing as she had cared for his wounds with a few swift licks – it stung, but her touch, her presence, her existence lightened the dull pain until it was in the back of his mind, all but forgotten. Seraphina had laughed at his joke. ‘My knight in shining armor... whatever would I do without my savior? What can I do to reward your efforts? Some crab? A kiss? There is no request too big or too small; your wish is my command, good sir. You really should try this, Vladimir, it’s divine. Your battle scar shouldn’t be for nothing.’ Vladimir had settled in the sand by this point, his ventrum snuggled into the frosted surface, his chin resting upon his front paws as his cold pools lovingly glanced up at her. At the mention of him trying the meal, the titan crinkled his nares, wrinkles forming on either side of his snout. A single sneeze escaped from his nose and he shook his head. “My love, I do not pretend to understand why you so enjoy such a… meal as that. And if you asked me to eat it, I would, for you. But… I do beg you not to ask that of me. The texture is all… flaky and oily. And it is so salty. And the taste it just..yelck.” Vladimir’s tongue rolled out of his mouth and he swallowed quickly as he choked back a gag. “I would much prefer that you enjoy your favorite food, darling, and as for my battle scar, it was not for nothing – it was for your enjoyment. So enjoy.” Vladimir smiled and rolled over onto his back, his legs lolling to the sides as he relaxed – his mate was the only one to ever see him like this, the only one to see this softer, calmer side of him. “As for our daughters? I do not so much fear their … no, I do. There are too many unknowns, too many potential ways it could all go wrong. What if brutes take advantage of them along the way, along the path of them trying to find their soulmates? What if they are killed by vampires? What if they find their soulmate, and find not love but pure hatred? What if they do not find love, but instead find an enemy? You and I, Sera, we are the lucky ones. Although I must say I am the luckier of the two of us, having you as a mate. You have to deal with my coarseness, my anger. And… I just fear they won’t find what we have. I am lucky that you love me in return… what if they fall in love only to have nothing returned?” Vladimir rolled over, back to his ventrum, and stood to his paws so he could shake out his pelt gently, loosening the sand that had collected deep in his pelt. And then, seeing as his mate had finally finished the crab – after having slowly gone through each leg one by one like they were delectable straws before moving onto the body – he moved to her side. Affectionately, he groomed her maw, pulling free the bits of broken shell from the fur around her lips despite the remnant taste of crab upon her. Vlad nuzzled against her briefly before pulling away. “Full now, my love? Sated? Because… I am craving something else. You mentioned before I could have whatever I wanted as my reward for being your shining knight… well… I can think of one thing in particular…” He reached in to nibble gently at her ear, the rest of the words whispered in her ear. “…that you could do to repay me.” Vladimir began to place kisses along her cheek – he would never tire of her… and unlike her hunger for food, his hunger for her could never be sated.
