The female's coloring was certainly different. He'd never seen such golden markings. She was striking to look at. Belhara would rip out his throat for thinking as much, probably, but it might even be worth it. She would always be his queen but did that mean he couldn't have a little slice of something else before he grew elderly and sterile? Not that he was anywhere close to that yet but when a male reaches double digits, it's a big deal, at least to Cuirass. His line was important. The mix of Demonican and vampire had to continue or he felt he would have let Seline and Eric down. Not that his parents did much for him but he could do this for them. Plus, he would awesome with children. He just knew it. Look at Boneskull, after all. What a wolf he'd become after Cuirass took him in.
He could tell the female was nervous but she was damn good at hiding it. She showed him fang and held herself in a very defiant manner. She was feisty. He chuckled, his eyes glittering. He loved a challenge. A shudder ran through her body and he felt his own come alive, like a hunter watching his prey. It was a powerful feeling. She seemed almost innocent in a sense, though he had no idea whether she'd ever been with a male in that sense or not. She didn't smell of one but of course that didn't always mean anything. She might not be mated but that didn't have to mean she didn't have a guy she liked or something, not that he cared. This winter, she was his. What a great alpha he had. She narrowed her eyes at him and he loved the strong emotion he read in them. This was only getting better and better.
He was sure she'd be looking for an escape so he had to stay on his toes, ready to cut her off at any turn. It wouldn't do for his alpha to work so hard to bring him a gift only for him to lose track of it. He needed to be more respectful of his gift. When he asked for her name, she gave it as Inara and he almost felt disappointed that he wouldn't get to pick out a nickname for her. Goldie or something would have sounded lovely. Oh well. He smirked, tilting his head. "Lovely. I'm Cuirass. See? Now we're not strangers anymore." Then the questions started. She asked why he brought her here and what he planned on doing with her. He scowled and shook his head. "Oh, no, you misunderstand. I didn't bring you here. My alpha did. That big wild looking chick that just left? Yeah, I didn't even know you were coming. Surprise, surprise."
He smirked and shrugged lightly. "Lucky me, I guess. Must mean I'm doing a decent enough job around here. As for what I'm going to do with you.....how do you feel about....family?" He tilted his head, gauging her reaction before he went on, walking in a small circular motion around her. His ear stayed trained on her, making sure she didn't even so much as twitch a muscle toward bolting. His jaws were ready for herding in that case. "You see, I never had much of a family. My parents weren't exactly strong role models in my life. I even have a mate, but she has a job to do and apparently avoiding me around this time of year is part of that job or something else lame like that. So I think that's where you should come in. Catch my drift yet?" He turned his twinkling gaze on her.
