The eagerness of this pup reminded me of myself when I was his age. Of course, I wasn't that much older than him, physically speaking, but I had been forced to grow up far too soon. Seeing the sparkle of wonder in his eye brought a smile to my face as I giggled at his remark. "Oh no, no I’m not royalty nor am I any more important than another wolf in my pack. I just have a certain job I do to help my alpha." I didn't bother telling him I had, at one time, royal family members. Those days were long gone. Nodding, I stood up and followed the pup as he lead me back towards the herd of sheep. I would be lying if I said that big ram didn't make me nervous, but Eldrax seemed to have control of the situation and I followed his movements.

Crouching low, we neared an area not too far away from the watching ewes where several kids were playing. My gaze fell on the one Eldrax pointed out and I giggled as it rose up on its twig like legs and crashed its head on the waiting skull of the other sheep. The sound echoed off the side of the mountain and I felt my own teeth chatter at the impact, but the kids didn't seem to notice as they circled each other for round two. Leaning towards the pup, I whispered. "Why do they do that? Is that some kind of game sheep enjoy?"

As I waited for an answer, my eyes fell upon a small flower with pale blue petals that danced in the wind near the cloven hooves of the kids. I had never seen a friend like that before and I longed to get a closer look, but I knew better now than to just aimlessly approach the herd. With a sinking heart, I realized those sheep were bound to crush the poor flower in their roughhousing. Of course, I knew they didn't mean any harm, but I still couldn't hold back the quiet whimper that escaped my lips as I watched them get closer and closer.
