The snarl announced the presence of another and lilac eyes turned to see a large wolfess standing close by. The stranger held herself with dignity and importance, her tail waving like some kind of flag behind her. The pup merely gazed lazily at the mild show of dominance, the meaning of the posturing sailing above her head in the wind. Then, she spoke. It took a long time for the girl to sort out the words that danced through the fog in her brain. Who was she? Long ago, she had been a princess, a spoiled puppy raised under the love and care of her parents. Her destiny was to rule the pack of her father and her father's father. But that future had been taken from her. "Idrisa, d-daughter of a fallen king and his c-cowardly queen," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as her body shook violently.
Where did she come from? How long had it been since she had called a place home? Months ago, she would have thought home was where ever she and Aspis roamed. Then, he abandoned her. It was then she truly became lost. "I come from nowhere," she hissed through raised lips. Sick? Her mangy fur did nothing to keep out the cold, her breath came out in ragged gasps of warm steam, her body shaking uncontrollably. Of course, she was sick! It was only just now that she realized how awful she must look to this healthy pack wolf. Something in the back of her mind told her she should feel embarrassed, but she simply didn't have the energy to care.
There had been another question, but Idrisa hadn't heard it. The wolfess was growling now, her paws bringing her large frame ever closer to the child and her rotten meal. At once, the girl was on her paws, her own snarl oozing weakly from her mouth. But the sudden movement proved too much for her deteriorated body and she staggered before falling into the snow. The sound of bees buzzed in her brain as her vision swam. Still, she glared defiantly at the alpha. "If-if you come any closer, I'll k-kill you!"
