My Philosophy is That Worrying Means You Suffer Twice

_________________________________________________________________________

The young teen did not expect to be as happy as he was now after everything that had happened to him as a pup. He had been through terrible traumas, ones that could shape and change any young being. But he tried not to let it define him. He still had nightmares about being trapped, and the fear he felt then never truly left him. It was all too easily to remember those feelings and to be overwhelmed. But he had learned how to cope with these feelings, and part of it was the act that he had a new family. When Scamander had first made his way to Blossom, he knew that he needed to find a Tempest to protect him. He was useless alone, not just because of his age but because of his species. He was not a fighter and would never be able to defend himself against an adult wolf. And he knew that Vampires were always lingering around, drawn to his unique scent and taste. The young male had been fortunate enough to find a protector early on, Vladimir. The young Tempest had been a bit confused by their relationship at first, but in a way being Vladimir’s first Arcus Irae made their bond that much stronger. And now, he not only had Vladimir but he had his mate and his family. Scamander had had biologic siblings and he did indeed miss them, but it was nice to feel like he had family again.

Scamander had always felt on the outside of things, like he didn’t fully connect or understand others, and it made it hard for him to keep friendships. So many wolves were so focused on physical contact, and more often than not he hated contact. He didn’t want to be touched, and everyone was always drawn to his unique colors, wanting to touch and feel his fur. And Scamander hated it. But there was never that issue with Vladimir, or any of the Tempests for that matter. The pair would be torn apart if they ever made any physical touch, and knowing that they were extra careful. Scamander naturally always kept his distance from others, which made things easier at least. But growing up in a den full of pups made him uncomfortable at times. He knew that having family was important, but he also took the time to be by himself.

But now was yet another time to meet others. Scamander knew that Vladimir was going out with his half-brother to discuss the wedding of him and Seraphina, but he would follow eventually. Even though he liked to be on his own, the physical pull that he felt towards the Tempest did not keep them apart for long. Giving the group some time on their own first, dark emerald stilts began to carry him through from the den, tracking Vladimir’s all too familiar scent. He didn’t realize at the time that there would be so many others joining them, he just thought that it was another family gathering. But when he finally caught up, he was surprised at all of the scents that overcame him. New Tempests and Arcus Irae alike had found the group, and now Scamander wasn’t sure if he would join them. That was a lot of new faces to interact with. Nerves and discomfort swam through him, and he knew that Vladimir would sense his unease and worry if Scamander did not appear. With a heavy sigh, trying to steady himself, he padded forward, his striking yellow scarf along his neck becoming the first visible aspect that the others would see before his purples and greens would become visible. Multi-hued orbs glanced left and right, immediately finding Vladimir and padding towards him.

There were many faces that he recognized, but also many that he did not. What was most shocking to him was the two other Arcus Irae that he did not know. He had not yet met any that hadn’t come along with him and the other original group. He didn’t realize think that others would find this place, but he was glad that they had. So far most of them had been safe here. They had lost some along the way unfortunately, but things had been rather uneventful as of late. He overheard that one was named Yuka, and his story made it clear why Scamander didn’t know him. And the other was a mystery to him. Both of these strangers were quiet, something that was different than most of the other rainbows he knew, and it was refreshing. He felt no obligations to introduce himself or to speak, and so he remained silent, sitting down as comfortably as he could in this situation next to the only wolf that could calm him, while still maintaining a small distance between him and the Tempest.
