Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

It had been a while since she left to explore Moladion simply to explore. There was, surprisingly, little to do now that talks have happened with Iromar’s new Monarch and the Blizzards kept outsiders at bay from entering the lands to the north. Really, perhaps that was why Zelda was out here, to escape her blustery forest for a day. That and every time she went out to the freelands she mad a new friend or ally. It was nice to go out and meet wolves she otherwise was likely to never encounter in her pack as she was. Of course the forest’s Guardian Deity couldn’t stay gone for long. Her ventures were never more than a few days before quickly returning back to the pack. Every time Zelda left for too long she always worried about something happening. Nothing ever had (yet), but she knew it could, and her worry always kept coming home quickly. What if something happened that she could have prevented? She was a healer too, if someone got hurt and maybe needed help she could do that. Or what if another large bear came into the pack and she needed to get it out with the help of her pack? Of course she trusted her Uncle Dexter to take care of things if she were to ever need a moment of leave, but it still didn’t stop her from worrying no matter how much she trusted the members of her pack. She didn’t want them to have to handle something that should have fallen to her in an emergency.

Today, she wasn’t planning to be gone long. Her mind was at as ease as it could be as she followed the river down towards the ocean. It seemed a long time ago already that Blackthorne ruled the Moors, but realistically it had only been almost a year. It was a glorious, quiet year of not dealing with him though. Zelda knew it wouldn’t last forever, but she wanted to take advantage of the time that she had. What Zelda didn’t expect of today though, was seeing lump that was small but very wolf shaped on shore. Oh no...

Her heart dropped, in this cold? Alone? Wet? It was clearly soaked to the bone and Zelda went rushing forward before she thought much more about it. She was certain it was probably already passed, but her heart leapt in the next few moments and relief started searing through her. The young wolf was alive! She watched as it lifted its head peering around, her voice light, ”Oh, thank goodness you’re okay!” The clear relief in her tones were apparent as well as on her face. A sigh escaped her maw as she moved towards the dark colored girl quickly encircling her small form with her own. Zelda was not a large wolfess by any stretch, but the girl was also small, many pups in Moladion were giants by this age in comparison to the one she now cared for.

”Stay close now, you are freezing!” Zelda could feel the cold of her body, she hoped that the girl wouldn’t protest too much. There was no distinct scents on her pelt or form other than the salt water that probably prevented her fur from turning to ice on her body just yet. Zelda could feel her own fur soaking, but if she could take some of the water away in her own fluffy winter pelt she would do it over and over again. Once she was certain the girl was stable she could start trying to clean the salt from her pelt, but she didn’t want to overwhelm her if she hadn’t already.
