The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Exploring caves in the winter was probably not the best idea, but Selene couldn’t help herself. The moonscorned made an internal promise not to get too far from the light, not to stray too far from the places where the light shone in. She would be careful, she would be safe. Selene moved with the sort of confidence of a creature who had done this a thousand times, after all.

A thousand times. Her mind was filled with all the places she’d seen before, all the caves just like this one she had seen and walked. All the lives she’d lived before this one. An explorer in true form, she’d never been in one place for too long. That was the point of exploring, right? Still, she’d never been this far removed from… everyone. Everything. Selene had never been this well and truly alone.

But she’d push that from her mind as she carefully tracked through one of the caverns closest to the surface. How wonderful it was, and warmer too. Maybe this would be where she stayed the night, away from the elements. Those sort of things were important, especially with winter upon them so heavily. Things were… things were strange, but they were good. Selene was good enough. Things would be okay.
