He finally informed her that there were a few differences to how he did his job though she was thankful that he decided to open up and tell her what those differences were. It better helped her to know what he liked to do and how he liked to do it. He did a little spying but mostly others did the spying and told him what was needed. So mostly, he was the killer on call, setting his traps by killing wolves and making it look like someone else did it. An assassin, of sorts. She nodded in acknowledgement, still mulling over where to place him in the pack. She didn't have a spot for assassins as of yet, but why shouldn't she? True, they were a type of warrior and a type of spy but really, they were a complicated mixture of the two with a finishing touch. They never left loose ends. They were the definition of following up on their work.

She knew she wanted peace for her pack but there would always be those to threaten that peace and cause trouble for those who advocated it. Not to mention Blackthorne could come back and try to regain his power in Moladian and she couldn't allow that, at least not here. She couldn't stand by and let the youth of Moladian feel endangered anymore. So maybe even an assassin can be a good thing for peace. What do they say? The death of one can save hundreds? Something like that. She wanted Dirge to find his purpose in Iromar and she wanted to help facilitate that happening however she could. When she asked what his favorite task was, he told her he didn't pick favorites. She wondered if that meant he either enjoyed all of it or he didn't much care for any of it and he was only doing what he knew how to do. She wanted to reset his horizons, give him more to hope for if that's what he wanted.

Maybe as she gained his trust and hopefully, loyalty, she could better dig into what made up Dirge and what his true aspirations in life were. Maybe he would surprise her. She smiled at him in answer when he said he could work outside his title if necessary. Nodding, she tilted her head. "You've inspired me, Dirge. For now, I think you'll be considered a soldier cause fighting is what you know, but I see other paths for you in the future. You are more than a fighter, you are a finisher, and that can be needed, even in times of peace." She watched his features, gauging for a reaction. She wished she could dip into his mind and see what he was really thinking, know how he really felt about his skills and how to utilize them. Did he sometimes wish he could go back and do what he did best, cause mayhem and wars and watch his plans come to fruition? Or did he hope for more?

He even reassured her, saying that maybe she wouldn't want his particular skills now but in time, she may. She lifted a brow, her lips twitching in a smirk before she nodded. "Believe me, I am well aware that not everything can end in smiles and rainbows. I may want good things but I wasn't born yesterday. I'm a realist, even when the truth hurts. I know that sometimes violence has to come for peace to prosper. Safety comes from protection and protection comes from knowing how to defend yourself and others, even those who can't defend themselves. I've heard of horrific crimes against the youth of this pack and other packs and I will do everything in my power to keep that from happening again. I would be honored to have someone with your experience to back me up when or if violence in any form is needed again in Moladian. I also think you'd be a great value in teaching others how to fight for themselves and the future. Have you ever considered yourself in a professor's shoes?"
