“I hope so,” Persephone replied. It was the least she could do for Macabre, she thought, knowing what an unpleasant time it would be in the Lagoon during her imprisonment. The mention of being busy pricked a little at Persephone’s conscience. That was when she thrived, when she barely had time to think about herself. She enjoyed being kept busy, looking after others and planning for the future. But with the Forest being so quiet lately, there had been little opportunity to keep as busy as she would like. “I like to stay busy,” she replied, forcing the thoughts from her mind. “But it’s always good to meet new faces.” Persephone offered a kind smile of reassurance as Creed spoke about her fear of the ocean. The poor girl seemed to have a quite visceral reaction to the idea of it. Persephone sympathised with her, but attempted to stay positive – after all, as she said, if this girl wanted to go anywhere else on these islands but the Crossing she was going to have to touch the water. She hoped that she might be able to soothe her fears a little, or otherwise help in some way. “Well, if you do fancy facing your fears, I could meet you around here after my trip to the Peak? I can show you around a little better, and I promise I won’t let anything try to eat you.” A small grin split her lips. |
