The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

It had been such a long time since she had heard his voice; sometimes she had imagined it but such imaginings never had the cadence, the nuance, of his real voice. It made her ears practically quiver, stilling her for a moment, before she continued with her fussing. She knew he could not see her, not truly, but it did not stop her from holding herself with pride as she moved closer and closer, investigating him whenever she could - a sniff there, a craned neck, careful eyes. Was he well? Had he been taken care of? She was taken aback by how glad she was to see him well, though she had never thought the contrary. It was all new, after all. She wanted to make him proud, to keep him close, keep him safe. They were intense feelings, one's she had not quite learned to subdue.

He responded with the words she wanted to hear and even if he had not been aiming for her cheek, she made sure that was where his muzzle found her; she buried her nose into the deep furs of his cheek, ihaled deeply all the places he had been. "Yes, I am in Iromar now. Their new leader is a good leader, a leader worthy of following." Though she had a suspicion such a thing would not matter to her father so much - as far as she knew, he had always been a wolf of Glorall unlike her mother. It made her heart flutter and sink for a moment: could he abandon his home to really be with her? "But it does not matter. Glorall is near, after all, and I have no fear of crossing the borders." She spoke into his cheek, quiet words just for him as the two of them stood in the shadows of Moladion. But even though she said the words, she still hoped he'd choose to follow a path like her own. After all, she could keep him safe in Iromar, but not so much Glorall. In Iromar, she could surely speak with Avery to ensure him a suitable rank; she could show him the safest paths and ensure those paths remained safe too. He'd adapt. She knew that. Deep in her core, she knew she could not have been born to just any wolf - he had to be strong in more ways that one.

She pulled back then, so that she could look at his face and take it in more wholly. "Where have you been all this time? Had I known you were so near, I would have found you sooner." She was direct, her voice having grown in command as she had grown stronger. Once, she had been an almost nervous child, desperate to stay close to her mother and to impress her buts he had grown beyond that: she knew she had more than just Siren to impress and keep close now. She couldn't do any of it if she had stayed meek. And now, she wouldn't let herself consider a vague answer an answer at all. She wanted to know why he had been gone and she would find out one way or another - and then, when she did, she'd become a better reason to stay.
