Hi Les
having done two periods of recruiting during my service firstly as a Regimental recruiter and secondly as an army recruiter.working from an army recruiting office you had it first hand you saw the potential recruit and was able to obtain his motivation why he wanted to enlist.the reasons given were many and variable.some of the reasons given were horrendous.my thoughts were sorry lad but there are no vacancies at this time advised the lad to get further experience of life ant to reapply in a couple of years time.Others you could say good motivation he is going to be a first rate recruit and should make the grade.I always was honest and told the lads the good sides and the bloody awful sides of being a soldier To be honest I would have been mortified and can just imagine having to tell them that twenty or thirty years after an incident they could be involved in while being on active service they could be prosecuted and get very little or no help from your government to defend them in a court of law. How the hell can a firm (CAPITA) who are not military may never have been military try to recruit soldiers on line without seeing them .What I have seen in the press and the TV news it must be costing Thousands of pounds to get on recruit.Have The army recruiting offices been Disbanded Like many of the Regiments And Battalions of the Regular army.May the good lord help us if there is ever another war as once again we will be caught with our pants down.I will make sure if I am still on the right side of the grass that none of my grand sons go when called before before all the male politicians go
Les the only people I can see as being responsible for the recruiting failure are the Politicians and some of the Gewneral staff who stood by when the cuts were made.very short sighted
