Well, as someone who's always striven for the sort of spontaneous IMperfection in music which first made me love it, when as a youngster I heard it, I'd never go near an auto-tune. I'm not AGAINST them but why would I want one? What use would it be to me? So far as I can see, most of the people who like the kind of music which I do, like it precisely because I know when to leave well-enough alone. We now have all manner of pedals, widgets and gizmos for making things exactly right. But, as we are told in art 'there is no such thing as a straight line.' I'd apply the same values to pop music. No such thing as a true note or perfectly-in-time beat for that matter. If you wanna sound like an android, yeah get an auto-tune. Why would a person like me want a musical painting-by-numbers kit?
