Mountain Lion Sighting New Hartford CT
IP: 96.32.126.130

I saw a grey mountain lion on December 4, 2018 at approximately 10:15 AM. I was with my two dogs hiking the blue trail at Brodie Park South in New Hartford, CT. My smaller dog (Vizsla) started yelping as if she were hurt. She kept yelping and I called for her to come. She came out of the woods looking behind her, above her and from side to side. She did not come to me she just kept going as if she was trying to get away from something. I then turned and looked towards the trail in front of me and saw my other dog (shepard/lab mix). Just a few feet away from her was a grey mountain lion crossing the trail. The mountain lion was looking at my dog and then turned away as my dog started barking at the mountain lion and moving towards it. The mountain lion moved to the side of the trail, hesitated and went into the woods. I was able to get a good look at the face of the mountain lion and a good profile view as well as a profile view of my dog. The mountain lion had a long tail. I would estimate about 3 feet long. It was slightly taller than my dog and definitely longer and and heavier. My dog is about 2 feet tall and 3 1/2 feet long and ways 67 lbs. That mountain lions ears were back.
