We're Playing Zombies Now!
all welcome to join in!

Dice rolls will take place throughout this game! For major actions, you can roll a 10-sided 'dice' (or use random.org!) to decide how successful the action is. Result of 5 would be 'average' success - as intended! - but a result of 1 would be a failure bad enough to cause some ill effects. Rolling a 10 would be an incredible success, saving materials or doing even better than expected.
You can also roll for items or 'randomize' your character stats and inventory when you first start. Otherwise, you don't have to. It's just for anybody who wants to add a bit of 'DnD flavor' to their game.

Rolls for zombie attacks can take place too. Rolling a 10 would be no risk of zombies, whereas a 1 would be a zombie successfully entering the area. Rolling something like a 5 may be that the zombie is a risk that needs to be dealt with but isn't immediately required.

Setting
You've found yourself out of fuel and out of luck about 30 miles from a small town. There's a dirt road leading to a well-known national park lodge. You've got just enough fuel to get there. The park is at the base of a mountain and is mostly pine forests with large streams throughout. There are a lot of walking paths to water sources.

The lodge consists of seven small cabins, an administration building and a ranger's lodge. The cabins are about 100 metres from the administration lodge and the ranger's lodge is another 100m from the administration building. At night, a solar powered light illuminates the car park area.

The cabins are well equipped with canned foods, some fire wood and some equipment such as a small axe and kitchen utensils. Most have a decent first aid kit though several things are missing from prior residents rushing out of the area. There are piles of firewood outside, and the entire lodge area is fairly open with picnic tables and concrete paths.

The cabins themselves are two-storey. Two bedrooms, bathroom upstairs and kitchen, living room downstairs. They are made of thick, sturdy wood and most of the furniture is heavy and wooden. There is a large window downstairs and two doors, one at the front and one leading to the back. The other windows are small and high placed on the building. Running water is currently working but electricity is hit or miss.

It's the middle of fall. Visibility is good during the day but it's misty and dark at night. The nights are cold but snow seldom settles long. The days are relatively short.

The Enemy
Zombies emerged around a month ago on the coast before spreading inland. The disease causes rage-like symptoms but does not prevent the body from decaying. This means older zombies are less dangerous, sometimes even unable to move, whereas fresh zombies are faster and stronger than the average human. The virus spreads through blood or saliva contact with open wounds or mucus membranes (eg. mouth or eyes). The virus effects the brains so the closer the injury is to the head, the faster the person turns. The average time is two days to turn but it can be as short as 8 hours if the person is infected on the neck or mouth. Initial symptoms are pain, irritation and a desire to be alone. The person then briefly enters a 'still period' of an hour or two before turning completely. Fresh zombies have the ability to 'speak' but it's usually just random words or short, blunt phrases that aren't intelligent - think more like a parrot or voice recorder. The infected have bloodshot eyes, bleeding gums and mottled skin.

Who are you?
Post a quick profile of your character! You can randomize it or just fill it out with what you think would be fun.
