redpolls

We finally have some Common Redpolls at our feeders today. We had a couple come visiting back in mid-autumn and hadn't seen them since. Goldfinches galore, all winter. But today I saw a pair of redpolls perched in the crabapple outside the kitchen window. Within a few minutes there were eight, and then 10, and once they had found the niger feeder they were busy bickering with each other as if they felt the supply had begun to run out.
No mature males among them; they appeared to be all either female or immature males.
