I've been agonising over what to call this book and the chap whom I hope will be editing it, suggested, " I know it sounds obvious, but why not call it The Greatest Living Englishman?" I cannot think of a good reason not to do this. As for the book. At somewhere between 40 and 43 chapters, it will be 70,000 to 75,000 words. It takes in the years mid 1975 to early 1995 and is about 7 chapters (10 to 12 thousand words) from completion of first draft. We want it published by late summer to early autumn and we're not fucking about.
Obviously we should initially do it ourselves, because we'll be more efficient...end of. 'Giving it some helmet' is a Scottish expression meaning to make more of an effort or to work harder. And yes, it is exactly what you suspect. Replies:
