Maybe something like this already exists in the world of horse or dog racing?
But it involves the concept I think of as 'Visibility'. How 'visible' or readily apparent are the chances of each entry?
So the program would not try to pick a winner, instead it would do its best to predict how people would bet, given what is shown in the program pages. Seems like a nice and obvious choice for 'machine learning' techniques. But not limited to that - possibly just some clever human programming would do the trick.
Anyhow, it would be great to automatically know the betting odds in advance by way of a reliable predictor. Maybe not half the battle, but right up there.
BTW, this differs from the Morning Line in that we are not trying to evaluate what the odds should be, but what they will be. Replies:
