Re(5): The Effect of Tax Code Changes on Refunds


Not only are all those interest rates low, they are probably lower than the inflation rate. In other words, a refund loses buying power. To do better than a savings account but still preserve liquidity, investigate your bank's money market fund and saving certificate returns. NFCU has rates that probably at least match inflation and truly beat the savings account return. I say, "probably," because I'm not sure what last year's (or the future's) inflation rates are or will be.
