At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

I’ve Struggled a Long Time with Surviving...but No Matter What You Have to Find Something to Fight For.

The white glowing kalak padded over to help the stranger. The poor boy had truly gotten himself stuck. She had never seen a being with his accessories…hooves and horns. But they were cool! She didn’t realize that there would be wolves that looked so different than her. And he had no glow to his fur at all! Did that mean he was a form of the cursed black glowing kalaks? Or was it a different meaning entirely? She had no idea. But it didn’t matter to her whether he had a glow or not. Although not having a black glow was preferential to her… Ellie had always been told to not interact with the corrupted Akaska Stratum that glowed so differently than herself. And having royal blood running through her veins meant it was even more important. But inside Ellie wasn’t sure what she believed. Her own pelt was much lighter than most maned wolves…a light strawberry blonde instead of a deep russet red. Did that mean that she was cursed and unworthy? She didn’t know. But that was not what was important right now. What was was the wolf that needed help!

Ellie warned the stranger that she would be as gentle as she could, but that it might hurt to pull out his trapped leg. The male was appreciative of her help, and the glowing kalak gave him a smile before she began trying to maneuver his horns and leg out. After some struggle, and whimpers from the boy, his limb finally came free. Ellie let out a satisfied yip at her success. ”Got it! Sorry if I hurt you.” She knew there would not have been any other way to get his limb out, but she also hoped that she had not caused him too much pain. The young male stuttered out a reply as she introduced herself and began trying to figure out who he was. ”I… I’m Brynjar, my mother calls me Bryn. You.. you like my horns? A..an..and my hooves?” The femme let out a small giggle at his words. Of course she did! Didn’t he know how special they were? ”Hi Bryn. Yah I do! They’re so different. I’ve never seen them before. Although I’ve never met other wolves besides my protector and my siblings.” As she spoke she realized how different they were. She had never even met another breed besides kalak before, nevermind one with all these cool features.

”My leg is really hurt. If you could help me get to the waterfall, maybe soaking it in some water will make it feel better?” Ellie quickly leapt to his side, her lankly limbs essentially catapulting her. ”Yes of course!” Her lighter pelt leaned up against his darker one, letting him lean on her to limp and hobble over to the pool of water. ”Is that better at all?” Star shaped pupils looked at him intently, hoping that the water was giving him some relief. ”So you mentioned your mom…does she have horns and hooves like you? My siblings all glow white too…but some other wolves back home were cursed and glow black! Isn’t that weird. We’re not supposed to talk to them though.” Her head cocked to the side as she waited to learn more about her new friend.
