He could see a subtle shift in the male's expression, like he was displeased with something Cuirass did or said. The idea alone almost made him chuckle. That's what he was good at, after all, pissing other wolves off. Especially those he chose to bring to Asteraia. The male was quiet though, choosing not to voice whatever it was he was thinking. Disappointment flashed in Cuirass' eyes for a second before he composed himself. He did so like to rile someone up and watch the show, after all. Pity. Well, there's always a next time. When he spoke next to the male though, there was a definite less subtle shift this time and more a sudden unspeakable tension in the air like he'd just threatened the male's life or something.
He was far more poised than that, but apparently he must have said something to put the other on edge. He could see it in the sudden stiffness of his limbs and the tightness of his jaw. The male stared long and hard into Cuirass' eyes until he couldn't help himself. He tilted his head and curled a single lip back into a smirk. "What? Something I said?" He asked in a sickly sweet voice, dripping in honey. And then it all made sense when the male continued to meet his gaze and asked a single question. Ah. Cuirass' eyes twinkled with newfound humor as he chuckled, his tail giving a single wag behind him as his lips tugged back into a full blown grin. "Oh yes, what else would he have been good for? Not much, I can assure you. In fact, I bet he wouldn't even have tasted all that good. Probably bland and stringy like a snake or underfed rabbit." He scrunched up his nose as if the very thought disgusted him.
As the male took a step back, it was Cuirass' turn to shift, his very form going from relaxed and welcoming to that of a predator, poised and ready to hunt. His eyes darkened and narrowed, daring the male to take another step as his lip twitched and his paws took a bold step forward, engulfing the distance that was just put between them and then some. He might end up having to take Kweku up on that offer, after all. At the male's question, he never took his eyes off the male's gaze, holding it like a viper watching a rabbit. "Only if you're willing to stick around hear it. You could learn a lot from Asteraia, but only if you give it a chance." He nearly crooned the words to the wolf, his voice falsely soft but no less dangerous in tone. He very body language screamed that if the male ran, he would pursue and when he caught him....well, he couldn't predict what would happen then. But it wouldn't be near as pretty as the conversation they could still be having if the male would only stop moving so much.
