Pascal's song filled the empty air and for a moment, Zephyr was lost in the melody. He could feel her anxiety and her hope. It may not have been as obvious in the notes as they sored towards the wolfess they were intended for, but he could hear them and it made his resolve to protect her that much stronger. Together, the imprinted pair waited for the summoned wolf to appear. It didn't take long. A scarred female loped confidently towards them with a sneer plastered on her face. To the white wolf, she appeared to be a… messier version of his own strawberry wolfess. Icy blue eyes stared directly at him as she neared, causing the fur along his nape to rise involuntarily. Standing up, he kept his distance allowing Pascal to remain in charge, but he found himself lowering his neck slightly. This wolfess knew how to kill. She spoke, ignoring Pascal as she continued to watch Zephyr. He didn't reply. Instead, Pascal spoke up, asking a question that was answered with a silencing hiss. Something happened then that Zephyr didn't understand. The messy wolfess seemed to finally see the young girl that had travelled so far to see her. She snarled, daring to show her fangs to the strawberry girl. Zephyr's own growl was deep and menacing. It wasn't a warning, it was a threat. The words came out of her mouth like venom. She wanted a fight, craved it. There was no hesitation. Pascal's white guardian leapt forward with a roar, putting himself between mother and daughter. At once, his teeth reached up and latched on to the side of her face. He felt his teeth make contact and was instantly rewarded as blood coated his fangs. He hoped the sudden attack would cause her to flinch or force her to back off, giving him enough room to fight better. She was bigger than him, older, and far more experienced. Zephyr had fought in order to survive. This female fought to kill. He didn't have time to check on Pascal. The moment his eyes left Kattari, he was as good as dead. Keeping his head low to prevent her from going for his neck, he waited to see what her next move was. All the while, he remained as a shield for his soul, protecting her from the evil that had birthed her. |
