Compressed Natural Gas Posted on 2/21/2019 at 21:41:08 by Ed Tipshus
COTA Is Columbus Trasnsit Authority . I noticed today that the declaration "Powered by Compressed Natural Gas" was largely displayed on the side of a local COTA bus. There must be quite a number of them in service in around Columbus Ohio. I wonder how many Cities also use buses powered by compressed natural gas. I assume it is cheaper to use and better for Greenies instead using gasoline engines . I reminisce about electric street cars and trolley busess that I used to get to a Chicago High School , in the 40s from a NW Burb of Chicago. Street Cars were slow, noisy and reliable especially in baf weather Safely driven by Very Old guys (probably like us now) on the rails, They were warm in winter, and cool in summer ( glass double hung windows w/pull down shades were opened ) and had wicker flip over reversible seats, and they were cheap and I assume they were less polluting than what they were replaced with (gasoline busses). Are there any cities out ther than Frisco or New Orleans that still have street cars or other less polluting city transit/ Replies:
