Hi Geoff
Sadly Karl gave a possibly wrong / incomplete number ie 2215578??
Regimental Number 2215578 would indicate a member of the Royal Engineers. Then again the Corps of Royal Military Police could be wrong Ha Ha.
Karl stated that Thomas served in 1LF and was involved in the Suez Crisis. (SEE BELOW). He was born Liverpool 1931 so could not have been 18 in 1959.
During 1956 and 57 1LF were at Strensall, York (following the Iserlohn posting 53/56), and were prepared and put on a footing to go out to Suez but the posting was aborted. The Bn left for the Cyprus posting in February 1957 and were there until 1960. It's a little confusing when it is said that Thomas was involved with Suez Crisis? As we all know the Suez Crisis took place in 1956. Although prepared to go out the Canal Zone, 1LF didn't actually go. Their involvement in Egypt was earlier from 1950 till October 52 which encompassed the Ismalia problems.
