When he wasn't snoozing lazily in the afternoon sun, Sans was watching. How curious for a wolf with only one good eye to see as much as he did, and yet, there was very little that he didn't notice. For instance, a mother and her cub, both unknown to him, moved around Spirane. The larger female had her nose to the ground, searching for the rare herbs that probably helped cure some sort of illness or injury. However, she wasn't the target of the lazy boy. No, it was her daughter that drew his attention away. With the mischievousness of a child, she bound away from her mother and, eventually, Spirane altogether. All the while, the red and gray wolf followed, his blue speckled gaze observing her unblinkingly.
Most of the time, Sans found himself beside his brother when he wasn't sleeping. While he would do anything to protect his brother, the boy also strived to keep all his pack mates safe, especially foolish youngsters. With a gasp, he watched the brown figure dart towards the river only to roll in the grass moments before falling into the fast flowing current of the water. Sighing, he knew now was a good time to intervene. The last thing Spirane needed was to have a puppy drown. His pudgy body moved with the grace of rock as he carefully made his way towards the girl.
Her paws dangled in the air as she laid on her back, gazing at the sky. Moments later, her vision was filled by Sans and he stood over her with a smile plastered on his muzzle. "Pretty day, isn't it, kid?"
he said, his words coming out through his smile.
"Whatcha doin' so far from home?" Waiting for her reply, he sat back on his chubby haunches and listened to the bubbling river beside them. It's roar was constant and gave any unwanted thugs the perfect cover for a silent approach. Luckily, however, Sans was always watching.
