Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

When he watched them, he became acutely aware that he'd never really considered what that kind of...relationship might be like. His upbringing had simply been accepted, seen as a natural course of events rather than something distinctly different from others'. Then again, he wasn't even sure if it was - perhaps it was Halycon that differed in his approach, and perhaps fathers who kept their distance were more normal than those that didn't. Whatever the case, Elohim couldn't help but entertain the idea but for a brief moment: he'd probably know how to fight with more form than instinct but what else? What else was there between those like Yami and Halcyon that those like Elohim and Eden did not have? Did they feel some different way, or experience things differently just because of that closeness? Like many times before, he practically sighed in relief when he had called out and Yami had responded immediately - thank god, he thought, he didn't have to keep exploring the rabbit hole of thought.

Elohim sighed but he also couldn't help but grin, utterly amused by the boy's immediate defensive edge. Not surprising, right? In fact, the most surprising response had been Halcyon who calmly moved forward as if simply greeting, well, something more akin to an old friend in any case. In fact, it was so surprising that Elohim found himself at a loss for a moment, wholly still as if Halcyon's actions had caused him to short-circuit entirely (which wasn't far from the truth.) But he shook it off - almost literally with a small shake of his head - and moved forward to meet the other man halfway.

"Ah, it's no joke - if I hadn't seen you there, I might've guessed Aster herself was here instead," he said mostly to Yami but his eyes moved back to Halcyon in a moment, just a little curious to see whether the name itself would strike any particular emotion in him. He had to wonder, after all, how Halcyon had been coping over the last few seasons. Aster had...chosen some strange paths, and the last time Elohim had seen her, he had expected her to rise up once more but instead, she had withered away and turned into dust once again. For him, it had been accepted too - a natural course of events - and so he had simply done as he always did and in time, he felt little more than a dull curiosity when he thought of her. Wildfires always did return to ash and embers, after all.

But Halcyon? Elohim looked up in thought - just why had he come? With an easy shrug, he returned his gaze downward and gave an almost mischievous smirk. "I had come with other business but when I realized you were nearby, I thought it would be better to tend to older business too." He spoke easily, brushing over the details with grace though he knew Halcyon would understand in his own way. Yami didn't need to know the entirety of it, of course, unless Halcyon had felt forthcoming in that regard. "You've made Taviora your home now? It does suit you, I think. Are your other children -" he looked briefly at Yami, keeping him within their conversation to some degree "- your sisters?" Then, back to Halcyon, "- here too?" He asked the final question with an edge of hesitancy, for it felt unusual to say it as such while they both knew that Aspis, at least, was still very much...missing. But what of his and Aster's daughters? Elohim had found a peculiar fondness in their mute daughter though he had never been able to learn her true name. To him, she was simply Quietam Puella. Perhaps some part of him regretted not being a closer...friend to Halcyon in the past, for he found himself lamenting at times over whether his influence might have given Aspis some way out. It was folly, of course, but too much time to think often made folly exciting to explore.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
