this is not ideal.
that’s all ziva can really say on the matter. she doesn’t particularly want to be presented to a bunch of uyaraut kids - though she certainly can’t deny that the attention sounds rather nice - so she can maybe find her “soulmate.” for one thing, ziva doesn’t need a soulmate nor does she want one… she thinks. maybe she does, she doesn’t know any more. it’s all been very confusing since she met idal. she likes him, but who wouldn’t? he’s gorgeous, almost too pretty to be real, and he has a way with words and… and he’s rude and full of himself as well, so maybe ziva doesn’t like him, maybe she just thinks he’s hot. personally, she’s partial to that explanation. unfortunately, she knows it isn’t true and that’s kind of the problem. because even if ziva did want to meet her soulmate by parading in front a bunch of kershov’s successors, it’s impossible because she’s already met her’s.
but she’s not about to say that to anyone, not even her sister, and especially not her father. initially she’d wanted to tell qiturah all about idal since the two of them both have their issues with the whole soulmate business, but there had never been a good time and qiturah’s become increasingly angry with the situation. ziva isn’t sure how well her sister would take to the news that ziva has found her soulmate and that she isn’t as angry about it as she always thought she would be. after all, idal is a good catch and ziva hasn’t seen him since the first day they met, which means she can do as she pleases and that suits her just fine. and her father… well, ziva kind of hopes he doesn’t find out for a while yet which is why she agreed to go on this trip in the first place.
honestly, ziva’s content to just stay quiet the whole time and pretend to be shocked when no one turns out to be her soulmate. she’s already thinking of her “oh how unfortunate” speech to give on the way home. qiturah, on the other hand, has no qualms about making her displeasure known and ziva listens to her conversation with their uncle with mirth in her eyes. she might understand qi’s hatred of this system, but that doesn’t make this any less amusing to her. her interest does pique at the mention of aindreas’ soulmate, who none of them even knew existed, much less met. she wonders if her father knows and if he does, why they were never introduced to her. but then, ziva had only met aindreas as a pup by accident, vladimir had not formally introduced him to the litter. her eyes flit to her uncle and for a moment, ziva wonders if she could confide in him about her situation - he’s clearly no stranger to keeping a soulmate a secret - but she shakes her head and banishes the thought just as quickly; he’d probably tell her father.
“yuck…!” qiturah’s exclamation has ziva raising her brows and giggling, sidling up to her sister.
“aw, don’t be like that qiqi. they might be cute,” she says playfully, misinterpreting her sister’s disgust, “or did you catch sight of your reflection?” ziva bumps qiturah’s side before scooting away, just in case her sister wants to hit her for the comment. qiturah’s pretty, but ziva will never shy away from a chance to tease her. at any rate, she’s certainly hoping for some eye candy to make this thing more bearable. “just try and have fun with it and it won’t be as bad.” she stretches her legs and turns to peer into the water, just to make sure she looks nice, before repositioning herself, straightening her back and curling her tail around her paws, in perfect ladylike fashion. if a good first impression is what aindreas’ wants, then that’s what he’s going to get.
