Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

not all those who wander are lost

The russet wolf with intricate dustings of cinnamon and chocolate and black had long last decided it was time to emerge from the background. It had been several years since she had decided to make the heart of the forest that made up Taviora her home. And after the day she had paid a visit to the graves of her Father and Mother, Isolde had withdrawn from the entire pack and kept to herself up until this very day. Perhaps it was the passage of time itself that finally drew her out, or perhaps the aching loneliness that had begun to well up inside of her, threatening to consume her from the inside out.

For what was the life of a pack wolf without her pack, what was her life without her family? Something had happened inside of her the day she had stood before those graves, something she couldn't understand and still she did not yet understand it. Isolde felt different from herself, and yet not, and the worry it gave her contributed to the consequences of her pulling back from pack life. For while once her feminine frame was lean with muscle- she took very much after Rhae, without the evident largeness- now she was rather thin and had a gaunt look about her. Moladion had steadily been growing more and more bountiful over the last few years, but living on her own in the heart of the forest meant that she had to stick to the smaller prey.

Moose and boar were out of the question, and even wild turkey often seemed to be more trouble than they were worth. The birds were typically skittish but for whatever reason, perhaps because she was all on her lonesome, the flocks she ever came across had tendencies to gang up on her instead of scattering. It made things complicated. That left the squirrels and the raccoons; the latter being nocturnal and not something Isolde found herself terribly familiar with. A squirrel was an okay meal, for a little while, but as time went on it was more and more evident that what she was doing wasn't cutting it. There was something else, for sometime within that isolation of hers she had experienced a shift and she had been left with an almost hollow sort of feeling. It might have been because she had been born to an imprinted pair, or because she just felt her imprint in the way that she did, but Isolde had known when their bond had been severed.

She had experienced pain, a true and white, hot blinding pain, but it had passed by as quickly as it came for their bond was not one that had ever had a true opportunity to take hold. She remembered his name, Segin, and it was not one she would forget. But when she thought of him and his pale golden white pelt she did not feel pain. She did not miss him. She didn't even know if she had ever even liked him and she was certain he hadn't liked her, not for a moment. He had been conflicted over her, unsure, and more than a little unstable. Memories of them were ones Isolde did not hold dear to, and it was fuel for another resolution to create newer, better memories instead.

Maybe the want to be around others is what truly drove her from the heart of the forest, toward the scents of her fellow pack mates, knowing that the deep and ancient scent of the woods around her permeated her entire being. There would be no doubt of her status within the pack land, even if she had never earned any rank as a result of her disappearance. She had not yet earned one, though she knew that would soon change. But first, to reacquaint herself with her fellow pack mates would be a better and smaller, first step, and her russet ears are perking forward as the trail she has begun to follow reveals a silver wolf lounging at her den. The female is not a wolf she knows, though she seems to be around Isolde's own age and her ethereal appearance gives her a further air of youth. Passing by a vast assortment of wildflowers which give her a smile at the thought of her Mother showing her all the colors and shapes and sizes of flowers in Asteraia, the russet wolf is making her approach friendly and just loud enough so that the stranger won't be startled.

"Greetings, my fellow forest friend." Even after all these years, her naturally jovial and cheery self was evident and she could only be grateful. She had seen what lack of socialization could do to a wolf as evident in the monsters that had moved into Asteraia after the fall of Rhae. But she was not one of those wolves; she never would be, and it was important that she not continue to fret and dwell on the past. The present was here, before here, and it was where she was meant to be. Though she knew the wolf was of her pack, the scent of salt had not been lost to her either. Curiosity had always been strong in her, and Iblis had instilled a fierce sense of manners. "You may call me Isolde, my dear lady, and what may I have the pleasure of calling you?" Smiling to the other and hardly pausing for a moment, for she didn't want to miss a beat, she aims to give them both a sense of familiarity and camaraderie. "Have you been to the ocean recently? I knew the ocean to the east but your salt scent is a bit different. I miss it." Though she does her best to keep her words light hearted, the mention of her once home beneath the reign of her parents has her reminiscing.

Isolde does not mean to remain in the past so much, but after so long alone she was hopeful that interaction with others would help her heal and help her to do better for herself. Not only for herself, but for her parents who had been lain to rest in the forest somewhere not close to their current location. For her siblings who were all out there, somewhere, doing something and perhaps loving someone. For her darling niece, who she was so very proud of and needed to pay a visit to- very, very soon. Starting with the pale wolf in front of her, she had finally made her choices that would lead to her recovery, and slowly but surely the knight child of Iblis and Rhae would at last return to her former self, and then some.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
