My Philosophy is That Worrying Means You Suffer Twice

_________________________________________________________________________

Emotions that he didn’t understand began to swim through him. The two barely knew each other, yet he felt something for her. He wanted to protect her, for her to be happy. He wanted to be part of her happiness. Part of a reason that she could be happy. He hated that she was hurting, that so much had happened to her. He hated that the world would be against them. That everyone would say it was wrong for them to be friends when they were supposed to be mortal enemies. Diosa was good. It didn’t matter that she was a vampire. She didn’t do anything to deserve the reputation she had. She did not ask to become a vampire, it was thrust upon her. And so it was not her choice to have to feed off of other wolves. She did not do more than was necessary for herself to stay alive. How was that any different than the wolves that fed on meat of other animals? It sickened him to think of the judgement that others thrust upon her. And that he himself had been afraid of her at first for no reason at all. When the femme drew close to him, and he saw the scars upon her, his heart hurt. Who had done this to her?

Without thinking or realizing what he was doing, he pushed his nares into her nape, inhaling but there was no scent to her. It had been so long since he had been able to touch another. He was almost always with Vladimir and they couldn’t touch even when they wanted. Sure he could interact with Seraphina and the other siblings, but he often didn’t want to. He wasn’t a fan of physical contact. But with Diosa it was different. He didn’t flinch away when he made contact with her, but rather wanted more. Something he had never wanted before. But he found himself pulling away, realizing that that may not be something she was okay with. And he didn’t want to do anything that made her uncomfortable. When Scamander heard that a Tempest had done this to her, his blood ran cold. What if Vladimir did something like that? What if he found out about them seeing each other? Surely he wouldn’t hurt Diosa…but that thought was not something that was completely unreasonable. The Tempests had a deep hatred for the Vampires, just as Scamander had been raised to fear them. Maybe he could show Vladimir that all vampires were not bad. He couldn’t let anything happen to Diosa.

As the femme spoke, his heart lifted. She wanted to see him again. She was not running off like last time. They could see each other again and they would figure it out. They would make this unlikely friendship work. A smile lifted his kissers as his amethyst plume wagged behind him. Whatever she had gone through in the past, he would do everything he could to help her overcome it. Or at least to come to terms with it. He would be there for her to talk to always. It didn’t matter to Scamander that it would be at night. He could easily turn into a night owl. He would be happy to do so for her. For more time with her. ”You can ask anything of me Diosa, it will never be too much. I’ll do anything to have time with you again. I’m happy when I’m around you. And it’s different than when I’m with my family. I…can’t explain it but it’s a different kind of feeling. One that I don’t want to stop feeling.” When she pressed her own muzzle into his shoulder, he felt his whole body light up. It was a different feeling than he had ever felt before. A spark ran through his form. Without even realizing what he was doing, he turned his head to be against his, licking her ear in a gentle kiss. ”I’ll always come back for you Diosa.” His words mumbled out softly, but he knew that she would hear them.

After their embrace ended, Scamander’s multi-hued looked to meet her glowing red ones. He was worried about this still. No matter where he went Vladimir could find him, could sense him. What if he just walked in on them and attacked Diosa? How could he prevent that from happening, how could he protect her? He was a full grown adult now, but still nowhere near as strong as the Tempest that protected him. He was a petite wolf, especially for a male. He was not built for fighting. ”What do we do if someone…if Vladimir…finds us together? I don’t want you to get hurt because of me…” He wanted…no he needed for this to work. But he didn’t want to put her in any danger either…
