I will use this thread for something I hope amuses you. I find if I "adopt a Puntista" for a performance

A. I should, now that things have settled a bit, only have to watch 5 games. 2 hours of this is great, 4 can be a little taxing, especially since I have no wagering interest. If I miss a game, so be it.

B. I root for my player, and so watch his games carefully.

C. What else have I to do? I'm retired

This will be an intermittent feature, as I have one too many obsessions as it is right now.

When I adopt a puntista, I will add it to this thread, so as not to hog the board if I do get obsessed with this

You are welcome to join in this monologue with any comments whatsoever, whenever.

So, here we go: Adopt a Puntista #1

Ibon played in 5 games. 7,8,9,11, and 12. I had my lunch during game 10. Noticed (duh!) that one of the singles matches is for fronts, the other two (today) were for backs. Erik subbed for Elgezabal G11P8. I expected him to make short work of the lumbering back men, but he lost his first point to Amigorena, who then continued to a perfect game from P7. Backs are fun to watch play singles. I never really paid attention to how they served before I adopted one. Some better than others. But I digress.

Ibon: I will list his partners but wasn't paying too much attention to them, except the game he played with Erik.

G7P3 (Beitia): 3 points won; 2 points lost. His last point won was his own winner that won the playoff-

G8P2 (Erik): 2 points won (one chic-chac winner); 2 points lost -2 (2 dropped catches)--2ND PLACE

G9P6 (Ithurria): 0 points won; 2 points lost (no errors) OUT OF THE MONEY

G11P5: 0 points won; 1 point lost (1 error--bad throw) OUT OF THE MONEY

G12P4: 4 points won (1 chic chac, 1 chula); 1 point lost (no error)--3RD PLACE.

Totals: 9 points won, 8 points lost.

4 winners (2 chic-chacs, 1 chula, 1 winner in play); 3 errors (2 dropped catches, 1 bad throw).

Not one of his best days, but still 3ITMs. He looked a little off on the long throws, didn't get them down until the last game, when I thought he would run a perfect game, but was beaten by a great ball that rebounded right along the side wall. Couldn't quite get the rebote done.

A small sidelight was in G12, Ibon v Israel (P7), good point, Ibon seemed to perhaps juggle one, Israel showed a bit of emotion in appealing to the judge during the point. Was it a juggle? Not my adopted puntista!
