MCKINNON ROAD

Yesterday I visited the Minesing area. Mckinnon Road was particularly productive with hundreds of Pintails, many Wigeons,Ring-necked Ducks, two Hooded Mergansers, and 2 Common Mergansers. A Bald Eagle was dining on what may have been one of the many Pintails.Around the north western area of Minesing water levels appear to be diminishing and it was difficult to identify the ducks owing to distance and heat? haze. Song Sparrows were singing lustily, and in addition to the Bald Eagle 4 other raptor species were seen, Red-tail and Rough legged Hawks (2), Turkey Vultures, and a Kestrel. I also heard a Flicker calling in the distance.Conditions on Mckinnon road should be great for the Barrie Nature outing scheduled for next Saturday April 6.(No Snowy Owls seen)
