Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

the forest sprite

She had day dreamed a lot about returning home to the forest she hoped to find her family in, and there had always been various different scenarios. Without having a whole lot of information to go off of, her imagination had been left to wander and living alone with just her Father for company had left her a lot of time for said wandering. But none of those detailed yet made up accounts could compare to the real deal. Halycon and Yami were flesh and blood and Midna would remember their faces, their voices; their everything, forever. It felt so easy for her to be here with them, and she felt relaxed in their presences in a way she hadn’t known before. Halcyon had a more mild demeanor than she felt her Father carried, and she felt herself wondering why exactly it was. Not only that, but they had been lone wolves for quite some time. It was in their blood, it was true, and they had always done well for themselves. But the existence was not without it’s difficulties, and Midna longed for a family she had never gotten the chance to really know. She had longed for a life she had never gotten the chance to life, but she had also accepted that there was no possible way for her to go back and do it differently. Thus she had to live with what she had, and because she could not go back she could only go forward. That decision brought her to follow her Father back here to Moladion, brought her here to the forest of Taviora, and brought her here on this particular day to meet her uncle and cousin.

Though she gave a good guess of generations skipping in terms of size when it came to Yami, Midna was happy to learn more about Halcyon and Iblis even in jest. The way her relative was so at ease with his surroundings, and with the two wolves with him; the forest sprite knew she could learn a lot from this uncle of hers. The thought was exciting, and along with the notion that Halcyon thought often of her and her Father, well it was more than enough to make her heart near bursting. Large tan paws fidget but hold her in place for she already had rushed them in her overwhelming affection. Nine years was a long time to be away from family and she had much time to make up for. A comfortable silence had been apparent between them all and Midna was simply basking in it. But the younger of the duo had more questions for her, and dual toned irises brightened at the prospect of his curiosity and interest. Truly she did not mind it, for unlike her Father, she held no reserves on sharing and answering questions of those who asked. Yami it’s beautiful- it is brilliant. Wolves, they are so many, and the lands are so many. Incredible, it all truly is. Amazing. Spectacular. It never ends, I swear; forever you could go, and ever. Everywhere. She had to catch herself and what he had originally asked her about, lest she continue to go on and on about whatever it was she happened to talk about. Midna was liable to lose herself in her day dreaming, and though it could be difficult for some she herself found it easy enough to accomplish even mid sentence. Thus she had to be mindful, though truly she was nowhere near finished.

When first we left, my Father he took me North, in search, of where it was Grandmother had come. But none we found had known, of who we knew, so we went on and I followed him, with much faith. My Father has not been happy, a long time it has been, but home I hope will make him happy. Mother will make him happy. When she said it, she realized she hadn’t let herself think about her yet. And she had said a lot, her tongue felt dry and her throat felt parched. The want to fidget in her large paws became even more evident then and she’s turning to face some direction into the pack land. Looking toward her uncle and cousin, she asks them about where she’d like to go. My travels have been good, as they have been long, and a drink perhaps sounds wonderful. Perhaps, a stream or river we can find. What say you, Uncle Halcyon, cousin Yami?

Hopeful eyes of sea-foam green teal that fade to the warm red brown toward the center look between the two wolves, so different and yet a part of each other, and a part of her all the same. Each of them was unique in their own regard and Midna was delighted to be able to finally meet them and know them at last.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
