Eurig
WE'RE SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING MORE

Eurig grinned at his best friend as they waded through patches of wildflowers. He watched her closely, as time went on he had grown more and more fond of her. More like a sister then a best friend, or both perhaps. Their finely tuned tastes had complemented each other every step of the way. And as they got older their partnership became more evident with the strengthening of their powers.

The things they produced now we're better than a they were a year ago. What little he could sell he stashed away for their future, a shop still yet to be named.

“I don’t know,” Eurig responded to her question. He wasn’t an adventurous boy but adventures seemed to find him. Especially because Ruby tended to go on strange wild goose chances when her powers picked up on something large and precious. But these adventures today had an end game, a prize of all prizes, and a real break through for their dream. “But it’s not so bad, is it?” Truth be told he’d been scared to go out of the boundaries of Oliford. He’d overheard so many stories from the townsfolk that made him hesitate.

Aneira on the other hand absolutely despised adventures since they often meant getting dirty. But this time she was eating it up. Xeb had a way of spoiling her without actually spoiling her completely and Aneira didn’t know any better. So she fell in line and ate up every ounce of attention Xeb gave her, especially when she settled the flower crown upon her golden head and called her a queen. Purring with gratification she rubbed her body against Xebs leg to which Eurig chuckled and Aneira glared at him.

The waterfall hummed in the background as the water churned up from the rocks. Eurig was about to go check out the natural wonder when a Xebby lightly touched his shoulder and leaned in to whisper in his ear. Turning, his golden eyes caught the flicker of light that bounced from the metal object. His glanced over at Ruby who wasn’t paying much mind to it...odd. Shrugging he crept closer towards it and was unknowing holding his breath till he peeked over the crevasse in the rock where the items laid nestled. His breath let out shakey and excited.

In a pile laid clothes that barely covered the hilt of a dagger, in its pummel lay a single emerald.

A. Single. Emerald.

Eurig looked at it but didn’t dare touch it, not yet anyways, the emerald was quality that much he knew. But it was fairly plan. Eurig’s brow furrowed and his gut clenched as a tingling sensation trickled down his spine. And he realized something in that moment that took him by surprise.

He wanted it.

Partly because he wasn’t supposed to have it but as it laid there, naked, and with only a single gem imbedded in it, he wanted it to make it better. Because it could be better.

He didn’t dare look over the rocks that shielded them from view, a strange fear clenched and entangle his throat, they hadn’t seen anyone on their arrival but that didn’t mean there wasn’t anyone around. “Xeb..” He whispered out of the corner of his mouth, “I think this might be the treasure.”

He lied, he knew he lied, and the worst part was he didn’t even care he was lying.

He did what he didn’t want to do but really wanted to do, He picked up the dagger. Slipping it from between the fold of the rough looking clothing, the sun glinting off the steel as he rotated it back and forth.

He smiled, a strange hint of myschieviness glinting from his own golden eyes.
