In the hurried movements of sharp turns and her solid concentration on the fox, Sekhmet had missed the thrumming of her companions paw steps. It was his deep growl that caused an ear to twist towards his direction. For now, Kweku would have to wait. Her jaws were seemingly too eager to snap the fox’s neck. Despite having the ability for the endurance of a wolf her size the movement was starting to wearing her down and the weather did not make things easier since she had to pay a bit more mind to the earth beneath her paws. The fox, however, took the movements with ease quickly darting from one path to the other seeming to try and use her forward momentum as it’s personal escape tactic. Perhaps that would have worked a lot more to the foxes favor should a second wolf not have shown up.
It was the moment of Kweu that finally caught her eye. Sekhmet doubled her efforts with the attempt to corral the little beast to the left and towards the large male in hope to force it to panic enough to turn too sharply making the foxes body an easier target to snap onto. While the fox did make spastic movements in an attempt to throw her off course it largely kept barreling towards Kweku’s general direction. With a dart to the right, Sekhmet was thrown a little further out in an attempt to compensate for the possible movement of prey and the fact they were tearing the ground apart at a fast rate towards Kweku, Sekhmet was running out of options for winning this game of sorts.
A tired red fox and an even more drained wolf closed the gap between the chase and Kweku. Trying its ploy once more the fox now darted a little to the left and Sekhmet chose then to snap just as the fox pulled itself in a last-ditch effort to sway right and right within reach of Kweku’s hind limbs. Now plowing to a stop the fox would either escape or end up trapped by the jaws of another. The thing Sekhmet admired about the fox was it’s cunning nature, even if Kweku did not claim the prize she was might somehow be content with that outcome. Now she waited with an eager gaze, and her tongue hanging from her jaws as she panted heavily looking to see who would be the victor.
