She was not aware of much around her. There was little question as to whether or not something would stop and pay attention to her and less care of what it did to her. She did not want to be taken from the world, not when she was starting to understand its wonder, but she understood if fate suddenly decided this world was too good for the likes of her. It would have been understandable, removing the blemish on the otherwise picturesque horizon.
There was the scuffing of paws against the rocky surface of the crags. A light humming over the quiet dusk din. Pariah’s tipped ears flickered at the noises, but she did not pay them any heed. Not until there was a particular scrape against the rock she rested on. At first she held her breath, squeezed her eyes shut, attempting to still herself as much as possible. It was her greatest hope to become one with the rock, invisible to whoever was there. Until she heard the breath of the voice. At first, her bloody eyes opened and looked to the sunset. It was indeed beautiful. The fire the sun cast into the darkening blue sky was brilliant. Shades of orange, yellow, and pink played across the clouds and in the east the stars were starting to wink into their own shining glory. Pariah’s mouth opened to agree until she looked down at the pup that had spoken to her.
The pup was startling. Her pale eyes seemed to stare through her, even as they were staring at her. The pariah was taken aback by the intensity of the gaze. There had to be a mistake, perhaps the pup really was blind and merely thought she was looking in the right direction of the sunset. The stars are beautiful yes… She said hesitantly, her cords rough from lack of use. She shifted to look better at the girl. On closer look, she was less convinced she was blind. It made her more uncomfortable under the peering eyes and she shifted even more obviously. Her ears flattened for a moment, her instincts battling against themselves. She was just a puppy, and she did not want to hurt her. Then again, she was just a puppy and there was little chance they were a threat to each other. Hesitantly, unsure of her own powers, Pariah shifted a little more purposefully. Would you like to watch the night rise with me? It was something she had come to find she enjoyed, watching as the stars slowly started to claim the night from the burning sun.
