Those who have strength and courage will never perish in misery;

It was true that there was perhaps a life that could be made for Leviathan in the Lagoon. Nova was sure that in time he would have gotten used to being surrounded by stallions and held no doubt that in time he would even have grown to enjoy himself. But that was not the life she wanted for him. The stories she had heard were ones of fierce warriors and harsh lifestyles. They kept mares as trinkets for their pleasure and release not as companions or as members of a herd. They were fighters and warriors and injuries were not uncommon. Nova feared for her son, feared for their separation and for the day when Warsaw would have parted her from him. If he was taken to the Lagoon she knew she would never see him again and well she was not ready for that. Not her firstborn.

She had taken him away, helped him to make the long swim away from the islands and back to the mainland in which she had come. For a time she had relished the extra days she had with her son, relished the feel of his warm body pressed against her own and the soft sweet smell of his red and white skin. He was a yearling now, and already his fuzzy white and red mane that had once been nothing more than tufts that stood on end along his neck had grown to lay flat against his side. He was larger now, and though he did not need her protection any longer, still Nova feared for him. She wanted him to have his own life, to make his own decisions and with the threat of Warsaw she knew that he would never have that life with her near him. At least without her distinct star marking the boy would simply be considered as just another wild horse... she on the other hand, was a bit more distinctive. She had left him, in the care of her mother and even explained to him why she was leaving but still that did not make the hurt any less painful for her heart. She loved her son, far more than she had ever thought she could but she knew that his only chance at freedom was without her.

Warsaw was the last horse she ever hoped to run into again. She had hoped that he would have given up his search for them, or that he would be furious enough with her that he would run her off with cursing words and perhaps even a scar or two. It was what she hoped... but not what she would receive. For the first time, the fire in her eyes give way to to the fear that flutters in her very soul at his words. Immediately her long black tail clamps tightly over her rump as the promise of his words fall over her like the cold winter's ice. She takes a step back as he moves forward, his blunt teeth scraping across her shoulder, once more marking her flesh as his own. Small black ears pin themselves beneath the thick curling mantle of her windswept mane. Silver blue eyes glitter fiercely as she raised her head defiantly, despite the tremor of fear that thrummed through her veins. "I will never bare your child again!" she snaps as he pushes against her, forcing her back towards the ocean surf. She shifts her weight to her hind limbs, pivoting away from him and lunging towards the trees at the far side of the commons meadow. If she could reach them, perhaps she would have a chance to put some space and distance between them.
