Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

As the nights grew longer and the days colder, Sidon knew it was time. The herds had already moved on, seeking food and warmth elsewhere. In the years before, he would follow them, allowing their hoofprints to lead him away from Moladion until the spring months. However, that was before his soul became bound to the land where she resided. Now, he moved south as the snow blasted his thick pelt, away from the tundra. His memories of the greener lands were fuzzy and distant, but he knew the pack of Asteraia would be the first place he would come to. After all, that had been his birthplace. As his paws trespassed on the pack land, he detected no scent of his parents. It came as no surprise. His parents had been elderly when they had miraculously given birth to Sidon and his sisters. There was no doubt in his mind they were long dead.

A fierce bark was the only warning he received. Turning, he saw the unknown wolf charging at him from across the plains. Wasting no time, the younger male darted off until he was clear of the pack lands. Even then, he continued to run until he had left his pursuer far behind him. The fields before him were barren and lifeless, much like the tundra. However, even with the snowfall, it was much warmer than the far north. Wandering aimlessly, he took in his surroundings with new eyes. This was his first time coming so far south and it was exciting for him. If only he had known what lay just outside of his territory, he might have travelled here sooner. Even as he thought it, he knew it wasn't true. She was the only reason he was here.

Closing his eyes, he pictured her. The paleness of her coat mixed with the shadowy grays upon her head. Those bright pink eyes so full of wonder. Within his chest, his heart gave a mighty thump as it demanded to be beside her once again. Somewhere, Lucia was waiting for him. Opening his eyes as a gust of wind blew past him he sniffed the air deeply, drinking in the various scents around him. Of course, hers was not there, but that didn't mean much. He was a patient wolf. Their bound would bring them together again. He didn't know how he knew this, just that he did. Picking a random direction, he continued his journey as the gray clouds above continued to dump their frozen tears on his dark pelt.
