In the recent past we have received numerous requests either on the Message Board or by direct contact via email for assistance / research to be done on variousmatters relating to the Lancashire Fusiliers. Every single request has been responded to quickly... normally within 3 or 4 hours and the research requested undertaken. This research is done free of charge and in our spare time and done as quickly as possible. It often takes a considerable amount of time to complete.
Whilst it would be rather churlish of us to expect a thank you each time for the work undertaken none the less we would be grateful for at least an acknowledgement of the work done. I don't mean an actual thank you...just a simple confirmation that they have received the results and read them! Their have been several instances lately where we have responded to research requests, forwarded the information sought but sadly have not received any acknowledgement. In two recent examples I have actually repeatedly emailed the individuals concerned and asked " Did you receive our research results concerning so and so that you enquired about? " The eventual reply being " Oh...yes I did...Ta ". Nothing else just " Ta ".
I would perhaps refer readers to the string lower down under the heading
" Hire of a Genealogist ". It's most appropriate.
We do not and never have charged for research and we are very fortunate in often receiving generous voluntary donations as a thank you for research carried out. Such donations can be viewed on the Finances Page.
This work will continue into the future but it is becoming increasingly frustrating having sometimes worked for hours on a particular piece of research, forwarding the results, then not receiving the simple courtesy of an acknowledgement of the work done. Is that really to much to ask for?
Whinge over.
Geoff Pycroft
