He was starting to have this aching feeling that he might never see Belhara again and it was messing with his mind. He'd been more aggravated lately because of it, snapping at Nissa when he didn't mean to and then he'd have to do go take his frustrations out on a wolf and sate his hunger and thirst just to get some of the anger out. She was his mate and he loved her. A part of him had always loved her. Maybe he wasn't always the best at showing it but he did so to the best of his abilities. He did just as his parents did in showing their affection. Belhara had always appreciated it before, so why wasn't she still around?
He growled as he rolled over in his den. The sleet storms outside made it hard to go out and hunt. That was the only temporary relief he'd found right now. Nissa was with her mother or he would seek her out just to have company. That's when he heard the call. Intrigued, he lifted his head and pricked his ears. It wasn't often that the alpha called so when she did, he usually found it worth it to find out what it was about. Standing up, he shook out his coat and trotted in her direction. He was even more curious because the call wasn't only meant for him. Why would she need Kweku? Sure, the mammoth was good for intimidation but what else could he do?
Cuirass had nothing against the male. In fact, he found him rather witty. He just didn't understand why he was still around. Sure, he gave the alpha an okay litter last year, but Cuirass had noticed that it was mostly girls. What alpha wanted only females? They needed sons to carry on their bloodlines and spread the seed. His Nissa was perfection but even he had to admit, he'd like to have a son or two some day, and he was beginning to think Belhara as the mother might not happen. He followed the source of the call until he could see her colorful form under some rocks to help shield her from the sleet. Deciding space didn't matter so much anymore, he didn't hesitate to move under the rocks as well, his shoulder brushing against hers as he turned his face to her. His lips tugged into a smirk as his ears pricked. "What's up, besides this stupid weather?"
She was one of the few wolves he didn't use pet names for out of respect. He still didn't know her name and maybe he never would. Somehow, that was okay.
