Hey everyone! We just have a couple announcements regarding the Peak/Lagoon, and then we have a very exciting vote for you all.
---PEAK/LAGOON ANNOUNCEMENTS
We recently noticed that there is a loophole in the rules regarding Peak/Lagoon elections. We realized there is little point in holding elections when there are only a couple members in each place, and neither is there much point in forcing characters to run in an election when no one actually wants a change in leadership. Therefore we are introducing the following amendment:
Elections for leadership positions occur every in-game year in summer, providing the following criteria are met: the presence of at least three members (excluding children, captives, and companions), and at least one member expressing an interest to challenge, stand for, or step down from a position. A notice will be posted on each board at the beginning of the season, at which time any members who desire a change in leadership should announce themselves. If no one steps forward, the election will not be held.
Essentially we will just check in every four months to be sure the Lagoon and Peak are happy with their current leadership. If so, nothing will change. This means that there will be fewer elections, and the ones that are held will be necessary. This means less hassle for both you and us. Woo!
We have gone ahead and posted some (late) election announcements in the Peak/Lagoon. If you have characters there, be sure to take a look!
---FEATURED MEMBER VOTE
In a week's time we will be announcing our new featured member. Now is the time to get your nominations in if you think there is someone in particular that deserves to have their name on the front page (and permanently on the 'legends' page). This could be because they've been incredibly active, helpful, friendly, or because their writing has been engaging and creative. Whatever your reasons, please send any nominations to lostislands.staff@gmail.com OR privately to Shiva or Chaos on Discord, with a couple sentences as to why you think that person deserves the title. The results will be announced in one week's time, on July 13th, and the winner will get to choose a prize from a list of perks.
